About Penelope

Hi! I’m Heather, founder of Penelope's Farmhouse Furniture. My father is a carpenter and a preacher so I grew up with Jesus and around the sounds of tools and the smell of sawdust. As a child, I remember living in Andersonville and playing in the park with my grandmother and siblings in all of those old buildings and around the furniture. I think sawdust and old wood was just instilled in me from the start - along with Jesus, of course. I work full time and am a mother and this is my passion that allows me to tinker, make something beautiful and useful, and then share it with others. This is how Penelope’s began. Why “Penelope”? Well that is a story for another day...

Many, many thanks to the friends/family/loved ones/fb folks, who have supported this notion of mine, have offered insight, honest opinions, words of encouragement, and loaning of tools when needed. Special thanks to the man in my life for always looking at one more picture of what I want to do next,  for skipping flowers at Valentines Day and instead gifting me new clamps, and for all the heavy lifting! Thank you to my sister, who dropped everything when I needed it to come work with me and has been by my side ever since. And also to my babygirl for knowing just when to say “mom, you’re a rockstar!” and for manning the checkout counter at The Cottage!
